Family Funny

On our way to the mall, as my two youngest sons, 19 and 15, discussed important life issues, the older quoted with an authoritative voice of instruction, “But the first shall be last, and the last shall be first,” to which the younger promptly responded, “And the middle shall stay there.”

Thank goodness I wasn’t driving. That would’ve been hard doubled over laughing with tears running down my cheeks!

Today

I hope to take it a bit easy. I’m sore, especially my arm. I have physio, need to do some groceries, and I hope to call REEP today to book an assessment. Otherwise, I need to rest. Tomorrow is piano and bringing youngest to his Dad’s and oldest here, so it’ll be a long day. Supposed to be brutally hot the next few days, too. Yuck.

Do I sound a bit morose today? I’m not. Just tired, that’s all.

Have you ever gotten a piece of facial tissue in your eyelid? It hurts! I’m sneezing with a tissue on my nose, and as I sneeze, I squeeze my eyes shut and the very tip of the corner of the tissue got ripped off and caught in my eyelid. The scary part is I can’t find it! I don’t know if got shredded to little bits in there or what. My eye keeps watering and is irritated, but it doesn’t hurt now, at least.

Only me.

Love this

II Chronicles 21bThe Levites and priests praised the Lord day by day, singing with instruments of much volume to the Lord.

Wonder what that sounded like. Amazing.

Wow, this is a beautiful theme!

Do you like it? Nicely done, Becca Wei!

Today’s poem

Lots done today.
Here all day.
Washed, sang, played,
filed, read, prayed,
folded, emptied, parleyed.
I should stay
home every day.

Done for today

I hope. Feel like I got lots done today. Let’s see the old list and how I did.

- housework! lots of laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning, maybe pull a few weeds, we’ll see…
Check, except for the weed pulling. But I did get a couple more boxes emptied. Fancy that, still having boxes to empty four months after moving in. Better than the last place.

- play our brand new grand piano
Check! Wow, that thing is way too good for a simple church pianist like I. But I sure love it! Speaking of irony, my son’s grandmother bought that piano, but she probably wouldn’t have if she were still alive. We’d probably have something much less grand. Too bad she wasn’t around to enjoy her grandson’s prodigious talent. She would’ve loved that.

- practice singing
Check. Worked hard on it, too. Still recovering my voice. I wasn’t able to sing much after the accident, and it takes a while to build up a voice, so I’m not doing too badly.

- read some of Anna Jacobs novel Highland Street (how do you do italics or underscore on here?)
(Yes, but I don’t remember the closing tag, so I’ll just leave it for now.)
Ok, let’s try this: Highland Street
Check. It’s getting very interesting. She’s a great author. Give her a try.

- read few chapters in II Chronicles
Check. Very good, too. So much about it amazes me, but today I was thinking of the incredible historical detail in these books.

- do ? with the boys
Check, kind of. Only the youngest was willing to watch part of Eight Below with me. We’re at the part where the dogs just got loose.

- shop for a dishwasher and installer
Check, for the dishwasher anyway. I’ll have to ask around for a plumber. I don’t think, for some reason, that Mike from Fast Plumbing will be good for this job, although he’s a very good gas fitter and did a great job on my dryer.

- who knows???
Check. Had a lovely visit with my new neighbour and her daughter and her daughter’s friend. Apparently, the daughter has a bit of a crush on my youngest. She came over to “see the piano”, or the pianist, more like. She’s so much more mature than my youngest. Can’t see much happening there.

Forgot to write down my exercises, but I’ve been working on them today, too. Still have a few more to go.

Whew, I’m so tired. Did a lot today, but there is so, so, so much to do yet. At least I’m mostly capable now. Lord, please send me some good help!

Funny, that

Somehow I missed the nearly most important item on my TO DO list today. Telling, isn’t it? I’ll add it here.

Today, I’m going to work on my writing and looking into getting some markets and/or contests. First, I explore utmostchristianwriters.com, one of my favourite sites. Had the pleasure of meeting some of poets from there at a writer’s conference a couple years ago.

Ok, here I go…

But first, I’ll answer the phone…

Oh, Blockbuster, asking for their Eight Below movie back. The same movie I wanted to rent but it wasn’t in the store for a few weeks… They’ll get it when I’m done with it, seeing as it was so hard to come by.

And the winner is…

Whirlpool! Looks like that’s the best there is in my price range. I know the features I want, now to find someone to sell it to me for the price I want.

I figure there’s no sense in getting a used dishwasher since the prices are not that much higher for a new one, but if there’s an almost new one available, I would consider it.

Now to find a reliable plumber…

How do you

keep your Goddaughter’s mom from posting pictures of her online? I can’t. Especially now since her mom and I are estranged. Our relationship will never be the same now that she’s accused my son of being a pediphile. How ironic…

Today

I’m going to start an experiment. I’m going to jot down quickly what I’m doing/done each day, and later on sometime I’m going to write a poem about it. I’m not one for keeping up something like this, so I don’t know how long I’ll do it, but it’ll be fun for starters.

Today I:
- hmmmm, was just thinking, should I write down the everyday blah stuff? Yes!
- housework! lots of laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning, maybe pull a few weeds, we’ll see…
- play our brand new grand piano
- practice singing
- read some of Anna Jacobs novel Highland Street (how do you do italics or underscore on here?)
(Yes, but I don’t remember the closing tag, so I’ll just leave it for now.)
